Sarah Murgia Lewis

Sarah is a clinical psychologist who understands the significance of embarking on a therapeutic journey. She therefore aims to foster a safe, calm and comfortable space for her clients, supporting them to identify their concerns and any obstacles that may be holding them back from achieving their full potential.

Sarah has over 15 years experience working in mental health across a range of community, private and tertiary education settings. She assists adult clients with issues of anxiety, depression, body image, self worth, perfectionism, grief and loss, relationship problems and adjustment to life transitions. She also supports individuals with perinatal concerns, carer issues, and existential concerns.

Her style is compassionate and curious, respecting the humanity of each individual, while also maintaining a good dose of humour. Collaboration with her clients is key to establishing therapy goals, taking into consideration each clients' worldview and cultural perspective. She utilises a range of evidence-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindful Self Compassion, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as schema- and trauma-informed approaches.

Supervision

In her previous role at the University of Melbourne, Sarah coordinated the intern-training program, supporting psychologists in their final training placements. She has a keen interest in supporting the development of psychologists and psychology registrars.

Sarah is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (Clinical College), and holds registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) with an endorsement in Clinical Psychology. She is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor for Clinical Psychology.
